Opus13 is one of Scandinavia's most promising, up-and-coming young string quartets. After being awarded 2nd Prize at the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition, they have performed at numerous concert series and festivals in Norway and abroad. Highlights in 2023 include debuts in South Korea, Switzerland, Slovakia and Finland. They have previously performed at Bergen International Festival, Rosendal Festival, the Engegård Quartet's "På 123"-festiva, Risør Kammermusikkfest and International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht, among others. They received the Equinor Classical Music Grant in 2022.
Opus13 has collaborated with international top musicians such as Olli Mustonen, Julian Bliss, Alisa Weilerstein, Tabea Zimmermann, Jonathan Biss, Marianna Shirinyan and Sunwook Kim. They have regular lessons with Berit Cardas and Bjørg Lewis of the Vertavo Quartet, and have benefitted from masterclasses with many of the world's leading chamber musicians, including members of the Quatuor Ébène, Artemis Quartett, Oslo Strykekvartett och Quatuor Mosaïques.
In their early years Opus13 received invaluable support and performing experience from the Oslo Quartet Series' Talent Program and the Crescendo Mentor Program.
The Opus13 members are founders and artistic directors of "Vinterspill på Lillehammer".
Opus13 consists of Sonoko Miriam Welde (violin), Edvard Erdal (violin), Ami-Louise Johnsson (viola), and Daniel Thorell (cello).
