Hugo Olsson grew up in Bygdeå in Västerbotten, Sweden, and started playing the clarinet when he was nine years old. He studied at the Bachelor's and Master's programmes at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Hermann Stefansson and Andreas Sundén, and with Mats Wallin for bass clarinet. After graduating, Hugo has been substituting at the Swedish Armed Forces Music Corps, and was in the fall of 2002 appointed Co-Principal in Vaasa City Orchestra.
