Eneko Iriarte Velasco

Eneko Iriarte Velasco, born in Irun (Basque Country) 1987, is principal clarinetist of Vaasa City Orchestra, where he has been working since January 2018.

Eneko Iriarte was mainly tutored by José Luis Estellés (Musikene, Spain) during his bachelor studies and later Hermann Stefánsson (Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra). Iriarte won an accessit prize in a chamber music competition for young musicians of Castilla Leon (2009) with Schumann Trio. He has played with several youth orchestras such as NJO (Nederlands), EGO (Basque Country), Granada City Orchestra Academy and Lucena Presjovem Orchestra.

In addition to playing with Vaasa City Orchestra, he also freelances with other orchestras in Europe, such as Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Basque Country Orchestra and Spanish National Orchestra. Iriarte has also performed as a chamber musician and soloist at various festivals, such as Piteå Summer Music Festival (Sweden), Korsholm Music Festival, Musique a la Ferme (France) and CNDM (Madrid) where he premiered the piece Ofrenda by Jesús Torres for solo bass clarinet. He has also performed as a soloist with several orchestras.
